Therapy for Ears - Ear candling

A few years ago I had a serious cold and, for the first time in my life, became completely deaf in one ear.  Herbal tinctures and oils helped somewhat, but, I was impatient and curious to experiment with ear candles, as I had heard they were effective.  I found a practitioner and was so impressed with the results that I attended a course to qualify as a practitioner myself.

What are ear candles?

Ear candles are sheets of cotton which has been soaked in beeswax and herbal oils and formed into hollow tubes.  One end is inserted into the entrance of the ear canal, and the other end is lit like a candle.

The warmth of the candle creates a gentle suction action and softens ear wax, and the soft crackling and spitting sound of the flame transmitted directly to the ear is intensely soothing as it vibrates the ear drum.

The result of treatment is that typically, people feel a reduction in congestion and tension throughout their sinuses and nasal passages and they are able to breath more freely through their noses.

What conditions can be treated?

Ear candling is an intensely relaxing and pleasant experience and many people enjoy it for its own sake.  However, there are some specific conditions which will benefit from ear candling:-

Sinusitis
Congested ears
Headaches
Congested nose
Tinnitus
Stress
Anxiety
Depression

What happens at a consultation?

During the first consultation, a case history will be taken in which your health and any medication you are on will be discussed.  Your ears will be examined to check for any conditions, such as infection or perforated ear-drums which may affect the treatment.  Then, a drop of herbal infused oil will be placed in each ear to enhance the outcome.

Both ears will be candled in each session.  Each candle burns for 10 - 12 minutes and there will be a further 10 minute recovery time after both ears have been candled.

How safe is ear candling?

Ear candling is very safe indeed when administered by a qualified and experienced practitioner.  My medical herbal training means that I am experienced in orthodox medical examination and diagnosis skills.  In addition to that, I have specific insurance and training for ear candling.

How much will it cost?

First consultation:- New patients - £35.00
Existing patients - £25

Subsequent appointments  - £25.00
